Sound of Survival- Thesis statement & Collage

In order to demonstrate my understanding of the class’s readings and themes for the Black Politics and Culture class, I constructed a collage series as the thesis statement that explores the evolution of Hip Hop, mass culture, and urban struggle.

Tricia Rose concludes, “Rap music more than any other contemporary form of black cultural expression, articulates the chasm between black urban lived experience and dominate ‘legitimate’ (e.g.,neoliberal) ideologies regarding equality of opportunity and racial inequality”.

This Project takes up Rose’s Claim.
